NHS Band Members and Families:
It is with extreme disappointment that I have to write to you concerning the cancelation of ALL SCBDA Concert Performance Assessments initially slated to begin next week.
As a result of the cancelation of our Concert Performance Assessment (CPA), the SCBDA Executive Board decided that there will be no Outstanding Performance Awards awarded for the 2019-2020 school year. CPA is a significant part of the Outstanding Performance Award scoring system, and they did not feel it would be in the best interest to alter the scoring system at this time.
Mr. Yost and I fully support the decision of the SCBDA to cancel CPA. Still, we are disheartened that you will not have an opportunity to showcase so many of the WONDERFUL musical accomplishments you have all worked toward over the last quarter. It is a pleasure to make music with you every day!
Thank you so much for the hard work you have put forth this semester. Mr. Yost and I could never have imagined just how many life lessons we would all learn this school year! As we continue throughout the remainder of the semester, in whatever fashion that may be, please know we are so very thankful for you, your families, and the numerous contributions you make to our program, to each other, and to us.
More information will be forthcoming soon about future band events, including our planned NYC Trip, as soon as we receive additional data and guidance from organizers, administration, and Rock Hill Schools. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
