Happy Friday, NHS Band Family!

I would first like to say THANK YOU to our amazing students and families who participated in our NHS Band Awards Webinar last night. While indeed a different format than in year’s past, I’m very thankful we had the opportunity to recognize our wonderful students! Congratulations to all!

Here are a few announcements concerning band for next week:

At this time, there will be no additional band assignments posted in Canvas for the remainder of the school year. By this point, seniors should have completed any final assignments. Underclassmen, use the rest of your time to finish up any outstanding assignments and turn in all coursework ASAP. Let’s have a strong academic finish to this school year! …but do please keep practicing on your own!

Next week, band students will have the opportunity to drop off any and all fine-arts related materials. The band room will be open from 9 AM-12 PM, 1 PM-4 PM on May 18-21. For access, please park in the senior parking lot and approach the band room at our entrance by the purple band trailer.

We are looking to collect the following items:

  • All instruments from seniors that belong to NHS
  • All instruments from Underclassmen not enrolled in Marching Band next Fall that belong to NHS
  • All Concert Band music folders, method books, and sheet music from ALL grade levels.
  • All Jazz Band folders and sheet music
  • All Colorguard-related equipment from those not enrolled in Marching Band next Fall

If needed, school-owned Marching Instruments and Colorguard Equipment are available to be checked out over the summer to students during their visit next week.

Memory Books for those that ordered them (during the first round) will be available for pick-up when you visit the band room next week. We will also distribute awards, certificates, band grad cords, and other materials from our Awards Ceremony at the time of your visit, if applicable.

Students interested in serving in a leadership role for next year’s band, an application will be posted to the NHS Band Website on Monday, May 18. Applications will be due on Friday, May 22.

While certainly still tentative due to the various scenarios currently being discussed at the national, state, and district levels concerning the next school year, your band staff is working behind the scenes to provide various solutions and planning for a great year of BAND in 2020-2021! We hope to publish information regarding our 2020 Marching Band Show, as well as preliminary dates, etc. as soon as possible! Thank you for your patience!
