We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work through the summer and navigate challenges regarding school calendars modifications, curriculum and program model revisions, COVID-19 guidance, and more.
As expected, following our decision to move to a non-competitive band model, combined with significant alterations to our school calendar, we must make several adjustments to our previously published schedule. Click Here to review our revised plan.
Several items of note regarding the calendar revision:
- Percussion and Colorguard sectionals will continue in July and August. Instructors may provide specific times and days for sub-groups to attend, when necessary. These alterations will be posted on our website and communicated via e-mail.
- Our traditional band camp model is not feasible to hold under current restrictions, social-distancing procedures, or school calendar changes. We will hold rehearsals in August and early September to prepare band members for performances in September and October.
Sheet music will be available soon for students to download and begin practicing on their own, before the start of rehearsals in August.
Additionally, we’ve received several inquiries regarding Rock Hill School’s Virtual Academy and how BAND might still work for families pursuing the Virtual Academy Model vs. On-Campus instruction. We remain in communication with the leadership of Rock Hill Schools to offer as many avenues as feasibly possible for our students to stay connected to BAND, regardless of which direction a family steers for instruction during the next school year. We will follow-up with more information as soon as it becomes available.
Parents and students, please make every effort to attend our Zoom call on Monday, August 10, at 7:00 PM. We hope to share many details concerning the band, our upcoming school year, our band boosters, and fundraising opportunities. Access instructions will be sent the week prior to the meeting.
