The session will focus on what makes a great student leader in the band, including how to prepare for and fulfill the duties of selection to the leadership team. Dr. Tim and his team will also look at different ways of defining leadership in music and how to avoid some of the mistakes student leaders often make. In July and August—after the marching band season has begun and various leadership responsibilities are in full swing—the team will look back at previous training and put it into context with what the student leaders are doing in real-time.
In September and October, the sessions will explore a healthy approach to performance and competition. And to wrap up the season in November, leadership in the concert band setting will be discussed.
