I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful spring weather! It’s hard to believe that this is the last update for the month of April and that this time next week we will be busy getting ready for Mother’s Day. Of course, during a normal year, we would also be looking forward to the spring concert next week and awards night the following week. We will have to wait a few more weeks for those events this year though!
Other announcements and events:
- Please be sure to log in for the May booster meeting on Monday, May 3rd at 7 pm for the 2021 Marching Show Reveal! We have been working with our design team for a few weeks now and are very excited about what we have in store this fall!
- We will also hold the Band Booster Executive Board election. The slate at this time is:
- Kimberly Shaw – President
- Stephanie Tinker & Ken Nodes – Vice President
- Mecca Harvey – Treasurer
- Swonda Dixon – Junior Treasurer
- Dara Ross – Secretary
- We can accept additional nominations that evening if anyone would still like to be considered for one of the positions. Please contact Mr. Yost or Todd Tucker ([email protected]) if you have any questions or concerns.
- We will also hold the Band Booster Executive Board election. The slate at this time is:
- On Thursday, May 6th, we will take a group picture of all the band students from the entire year. This includes students from both semesters, fall & winter guard, and any virtual students who would like to be a part of the picture. Students will be dismissed from their 4th block classes at 3:20 to report to the bleachers near the track. Our plan is to get the students on the bleachers and take the picture by 3:30 so the students can be on their way to the bus loop or their cars no later than 3:35. Students will be required to wear a mask until it is time to take the picture and will need to put it back on as they leave. We also ask that students wear a purple shirt for the picture. A band shirt would be great but, if you don’t have one, any purple NHS shirt will be fine.
- It’s that time again to place your orders for our amazing Band Memory Book! This hardcover book is 80 pages of full color and contains pictures and memories from our activities the entire year.

- The date for the band awards night has been changed to Thursday, June 3rd at Ebenezer Park. More details will be shared in May, but please be sure to make this change on your calendars as it is different than the date that was listed on the calendar distributed in February. We will start at 6:00 and should be finished by 9:00.
- The NHS Spring Band Concert is still set for the evening of May 25th at 7 pm in the courtyard at NHS.
- We received the marching band course requests for the fall late last week, and are working to finalize the schedule for the summer and fall. We hope to have information in the mail early next week. For those of you that are planning your summer vacations, we are looking at July 26-30 and August 2-6 for band camp.
