I would like to start today by thanking all of you for all you did to make the Olde English Festival of Bands such a huge success this past Saturday. Overall, everything went exceptionally well, and I have heard nothing but positive comments from the adjudicators and visiting bands.
I also hope everyone had a chance to see our students perform. They performed very well, and I am pleased with the progress they continue to make on a daily basis. This week we hope to put the finishing touches into the show and will then be able to spend the month of October refining all that we have learned so far so the students are able to perform at the highest level possible. We will not perform our competition show this week at the game as it is homecoming. We will perform the show again at the game on October 8th, which is senior night and will perform at the Carolina Crown BandBeat competition on October 9th, at 4:30 pm.
Updates for this week:
- Middle School Band Night is this Friday! If you know a current 8th-grade band student, please encourage them to join us!
- Our next booster meeting is Monday, October 4th at 7:00 pm.
- A representative from Stamm Travel will be in attendance to discuss the Spring trip scheduled for April 8-11.
- We will also have tickets available for the 10/9 BandBeat show. I have a limited number I can sell at a reduced price, and they will be available starting that evening on a first-come, first-served, basis.
- Our annual fall fruit sale starts soon! This is always a very popular fundraiser, and I have several customers who have already called asking when the sale will start. Please be sure to either attend the booster meeting in person in the band room or on zoom for more information.
- Senior night is Friday, October 8th. Senior parents, be on the lookout for a message from us over the weekend with more detailed information.
- Parent show shirts are in. Please be sure to contact Kimberly Shaw if you have not received your shirt.
- If you did not order a shirt but would still like to, please contact Kim at [email protected]
The first 9 week grading period ends on October 14 and the last day for students to submit late work is Sunday, October 10th.
At this time, we have assigned 4 playing assessments for students to record for a grade. Many have done a great job but there are several who have not turned in any work. Please check your student’s grade in Canvas! If they have anything less than a 70, it is probably because they have missing assignments!
As always, please be sure to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I greatly appreciate all of your support, and I hope to see you in person or on zoom for the booster meeting Monday evening.
