Meeting Notes from Parent Meeting

Information from the mandatory Thursday meeting about Team Shop, Fundraising, Fees, Lessons, Trips, Orientation, Band Camp, and beyond.

TEAM SHOP

  • The shop closes Monday, August 14. Delivery after Labor Day.
  • All supporters should purchase the first item in the shop. This is our show shirt for this year (the western design is on the back).
  • Family and friends are asked to support the students by wearing this show shirt to marching band performances.

MATTRESS SALE

  • Each band family is asked to get one person in the market for a new mattress to walk through the door on Saturday, August 26, at First Baptist Church, Rock Hill.
  • Utilize the four coupons you received last night to invite friends. More coupons are available in the band room.
  • Each 10% off coupon used for the purchase will earn your family a $25 credit that can be applied to band fees, Hawaii trip, shoe/glove orders, etc.

FAMILY FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY (EARN $1,200+ PER FAMILY)

  • Each family is asked to volunteer two times
  • Each person who volunteers will earn $75 credit toward their student’s BCP (Band Credit Points)
  • A family of 4 who volunteers one time will earn $300
  • 2nd time is an additional $300
  • There is a $75 per person bonus on the third time
  • If a family of 4 volunteers three times, that earns $1,200 for that student’s BCP account (this can be used to pay band fees, Hawaii trip, shoes/gloves, etc.)

BAND FEES ($500 TOTAL)-PAYABLE TO NORTHWESTERN HIGH SCHOOL

  • $150 (Deposit and August payment) is now past due
  • $75 Due: Sep1, Oct 1, Nov 1
  • $125 Due December 1

MARCHING SHOES AND GLOVES-PAYABLE TO NHS BAND BOOSTERS

  • Shoes (brass, woodwinds, percussion)-$40…can use last year’s
  • Gloves (brass, woodwinds)-$5 per pair…need at least two pair

PRIVATE LESSON ACADEMY-FALL ENROLLMENT

  • Registration Due Friday, August 11
  • Submit the form to Mr. McGuire

HAWAII TRIP (APRIL 3-10, 2024)

NHS ORIENTATION

  • Northwestern High School has asked that 9th-12th grade band students register for school on Wednesday, August 9, at 1:30 in F Gym (regardless of what grade you’re in)
  • DO NOT attend Orientation during your published class registration time. Northwestern has set this time aside as Band Registration.

  • Band students are required to provide Proof Of Residency at the Registration.

    8:30am-9:00pm
    Arrive by 8:15am
    Pick up 10:00pm after Movie Night
  • Tuesday-Twin/Group Day
    8:30am-9:00pm
    Arrive by 8:15am
    Pick up 10:00pm after Games and Shaved Ice
  • Wednesday-Western Day
    8:30am-9:00pm
    Arrive by 8:15am
    Pick up 10:00pm after the Shaving Cream Fight
  • Thursday-Character Day
    8:30am-7:00pm
    Arrive by 8:15am
    Pick up at 7:00 pm and return for 9:00pm Induction
    Pick up at 11:30 pm after Induction and Band Dance
  • Friday-Color Day
    8:30am-12:00pm
    Arrive by 8:15am
    Pick up at noon and return for 6:00pm Warm Up
    Bring Covered Dish
    Exhibition Performance 7:00pm

POST CAMP

  • Tuesday, August 15: Rehearsal 6-8pm
  • Thursday, August 17: Teacher Rally at Winthrop Coliseum
    Arrive at 9:15am, Pick Up at 11:30am

  • Saturday, August 19: Bank of America Stadium Performance
    Arrive at 3:30pm (may change), Pick Up at 10:00pm
