Good Evening NHS Band Students and Parents:
As we transition to a distance learning environment for the foreseeable future due to our emergency closure, the following are some pertinent announcements regarding BAND.
For those that left instruments at school on Friday or need to pick up an instrument for at-home use:
The band room will be open on Monday from 9 AM – 2 PM on Wednesday (3/18), for any student needing to pick up any materials or equipment from the band area. Wind players who primarily use school-owned instruments, please make plans to stop by the school during this window to pick up an instrument for at-home practice. All wind players will need an instrument at home to complete assignments. Percussionists will need access to a practice pad and a pair of sticks. Percussionists that can transport a keyboard instrument home during the interim are encouraged to do so, but not required. For those that would like to pick up a keyboard instrument, please e-mail [email protected] to give us a heads up you are planning to do so.
For those that are coming to campus on March 18, there is a specific protocol in place. Specific information was sent via Mr. Massey this evening. This same information is available from the school website. Please do not deviate from these procedures outlined by our school administration.
Access to D Building Fine Arts classrooms must be made through another fine arts staff member or me. Park in the senior parking lot near the purple trailer and I or another staff member will assist you. A staff member must escort any student or adult entering the fine arts area.
Hello, Dolly! Musical
Students involved in Hello Dolly – the musical has been postponed indefinitely. Please keep up with your sheet music, as it will need to be returned to Mr. Tinker as soon as we return to school.
Band Student Expectations during the closure:
Here are the requirements for BAND during this emergency closure:
Weekly Modules in Canvas will be published throughout the emergency closure period, which will require band students to engage and submit assignments related to music theory, music terminology, and music performance. All students are encouraged to practice their instruments daily. Modules will open each week during the closure, with the first starting on Thursday. Students may work through the weekly module at their own pace, but please note that each week’s assignments have due dates that should be honored.
If you have questions, need help, or anything else band related, Mr. Yost and Mr. Tinker will host daily office hours during the closure.
Mr. Yost – Monday-Friday: 9 AM-11 AM via Canvas Message or E-mail
Mr. Tinker – Monday-Friday: 1 PM-3 PM via Canvas Message, E-mail, or Google Hangout ([email protected])
Mr. Walker – Please contact via e-mail or Canvas message to make an appointment.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Yost or me via e-mail. Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we work through Wednesday’s logistics.
